Periodontal disease (gum disease) is an inflammation or infection that attacks the gums and bone that hold your teeth in place. It is multifactorial and can be caused by plaque, heredity, stress, host resistance, and many other contributing factors. In its early stage, gum disease is called gingivitis.

A later and more serious stage is called periodontitis. Every person needs a strong foundation in their mouth. Healthy gums are that strong foundation.
